Twelve days after he was admitted to a private hospital in Kandivli following his girlfriend and actor Pratyusha Banerjee’s suicide, actor-producer Rahul Raj Singh is likely to be discharged on Saturday.
The actress of ‘Balika Vadhu’ fame was found hanging at her residence in Goregaon on April 1. She was rushed by Rahul to a hospital in Andheri where she was declared dead. Rahul, who has been booked for abetment of suicide, has been undergoing treatment for alleged depression at a hospital in Borivali since April 3.
According to Dr Santosh Goyal from Shri Sai Hospital in Kandivli, Rahul Raj Singh will be discharged on Saturday.
“He has been under observation for last two days and is fit to get discharged tomorrow (Saturday),” the doctor said.
Singh was admitted on April 3 at the Kandivli hospital and has been undergoing counselling and treatment for depression. He is believed to have had “suicidal thoughts” during his admission. A team of JJ hospital’s doctors have been asked to assess his mental condition and present its opinion.
Last Tuesday, the Bombay High Court had granted Rahul anticipatory bail till April 18. However, he is required to visit the police station for two hours everyday until his relief elapses. On Wednesday, Singh came to the police station in an ambulance but on the following two days he arrived in a grey SUV belonging to his relative, with a Jharkhand number plate.
