AS MANY as 40 people including ministers from Punjab and Haryana will line up on the tarmac to receive Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the airport when he arrives in Chandigarh Monday night. The list as per protocol was received by Chandigarh administration from the Prime Minister’s Office Saturday.
Governor of Punjab and Haryana Prof Kaptan Singh Solanki is number one on the list followed by Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. Chandigarh Member of Parliament Kirron Kher is ranked sixth in the list of those who will be lined up at the edge of the red carpet as Modi descends from his plane. Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij is at number 10, followed by Punjab and Haryana MLAs.
Mayor Arun Sood is 16th in the pecking order, UT Adviser Parimal Rai is 19th. Also, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Command, Lt Gen KJ Singh clocks in at number 22. Home Secretary Anurag Aggarwal is at number 24 followed by Punjab DGP Suresh Arora, Haryana DGP KP Singh, UT IGP Tejinder Singh Luthra, DC Ajit Balaji Joshi and UT SSP Sukhchain Singh Gill.
Chandigarh’s BJP leaders are at the bottom of the list. BJP Chief Sanjay Tandon is No.33 followed by former Member of Parliament Satya Pal Jain and former Union Minister Harmohan Dhawan is No.35. Former Punjab BJP chief Kamal Sharma and Haryana BJP chief Subhash Barala are at No. 38 and No. 39.
The PM will arrive at Chandigarh airport at 9.50 pm Monday.
Meanwhile, only eight VIPs have been allowed to share stage with the PM. Solanki and Punjab and Haryana Chief Ministers, Shripad Yesso Naik, Union MoS, Ayush, Charanjit Singh Atwal, Speaker Vidhan Sabha Punjab, Kanwar Pal Speaker Vidhan Sabha Haryana, UT Member Parliament Kirron Kher and Ajit M Sharan, Secretary (Ayush), Government of India will be on the stage with PM Modi.
As per the schedule, Modi will fly from Delhi at 9 pm on June 20 and land at Chandigarh Airport around 9.50 pm. He will be received by Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Punjab and Haryana Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki and UT Adviser Parimal Rai. Around 10.15 pm, he will leave for Punjab Raj Bhawan, where he will stay overnight.
On June 21, Modi will leave for Capitol Complex at 6.20 am and will reach the venue around 6.30 am. After attending the one-hour event, he will leave the venue around 7.50 am for the airport from where he will fly back to Delhi at 8.30 am. A total of 35 ministers, leaders and bureaucrats are on the list of those who will see off the PM after the event.
