Parties across the spectrum used the special debate on Constitution in Lok Sabha to demand SC/ST reservation in the private sector with Congress seeking a Bill to enact a law on this with everyone’s consensus. Union minister Ram Vilas Paswan said the government is ready to bring in a Bill.

“The way you (the government) bring Bills on GST and other things where you try to make consensus on the floor of the House, the same way bring a Bill on reservation in private sector and we will consider,” said leader of Congress in the Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge during the debate. He said that since public sector jobs are decreasing and private sector jobs are increasing, the government should try to ensure reservation there too.
