At least five people were killed and around 30 injured after a bus fell off a bridge near Tukuda in Odisha’s Angul district on Tuesday evening. According to the police, three persons died on the spot.”We have rescued all the passengers from the ill-fated bus that fell from the bridge,” said Angul SP Kabita Jalan.
The injured people were shifted from the accident site to hospitals in Angul and Jarada, said police. Meanwhile, Odisha’s Transport Minister Ramesh Chandra Majhi said that the private bus, named ‘Janhamamu’, carrying about 30 passengers fell from the bridge while the driver tried to save a motorbike rider on the road. The bus was travelling from Angul to Thakuragada on the NH 55, he said. Besides police and fire brigade personnel, local people also participated in the rescue operation. Chhendipada MLA Sushant Behera said he with help of local people searched the place and all passengers have been rescued.
