The Lucknow district administration on Saturday denied permission for a concert of Pakistani singer Atif Aslam scheduled for Sunday evening. The administration said nearly 30,000 people, who attended an anti-addiction camp organised by one Bhagwati Manav Kalyan Samiti, will be at the venue, Smriti Upvan, on Sunday, so the permission for the concert cannot be granted.
In a letter to Somnath Adhikari, the organiser, ADM,City (East), Nidhi Srivastava said a police report has said that about 30,000 people are already present at the venue.
Adhikari said he had sought permission for Sunday, as the anti-addiction camp was to end on Saturday. But the people who took part in the camp are likely to stay there on Sunday. “The administration also had shortage of police force because of the ongoing UP Board exams,” he said.
