Alleged Islamic State (IS) recruit Mohammed Naser, who was deported from Sudan last year, was preparing to launch attacks in India and Middle-east by recruiting Muslim youth from the country, according to a chargesheet filed by NIA before a special court Friday. This is the first chargesheet filed by the NIA against an alleged IS recruit. The agency has arrested more than 20 alleged IS recruits.
The agency filed the chargesheet before District Judge Amar Nath against Naser Packeer, who was arrested in December, alleging that he was involved in a conspiracy to recruit Muslim youths in India to join IS and shift them to Iraq and Syria to carry out attacks in Middle-east and in India.
According to sources, the chargesheet said, “Accused Naser had used social media platforms… and had connected with his associates within and outside India.”
