The National Investigation Agency on Friday arrested two more people in connection with the terror attack on a BSF convoy on the Jammu-Srinagar highway at Narsu Nullah in Udhampur district in August. The attack had claimed the lives of two paramilitary personnel and left nearly a dozen others injured.
The arrested persons have been identified as Khursheed Ahmed Ittoo and Fayaz Ahmed Ittoo alias Fayaz Welder. Pointing out that they were arrested from the Valley, the NIA described their arrest as “significant” and said their interrogation will lead to more revelations about the conspiracy behind the attack.

Khursheed Ahmed Ittoo is alleged to have used his Maruti 800 car as a pilot vehicle of the truck in which Pakistani terrorists Mohammad Naveed and Noman travelled from the Valley to the attack site. He had allegedly coordinated with truck driver Fayaz Ahmed Ashwar alias Setha and with the terrorists regarding the place of attack and other logistics.
About Fayaz Welder, sources said the terror attack had been planned in his house at Kudwani.
NIA sources said that Khursheed’s name had come up during the interrogation of Shabzar, the owner of the truck. Shabzar has revealed that Khursheed and his wife allegedly drove ahead of the truck so as to warn terrorists of any police naka on the way. The NIA is now looking for Khursheed’s wife.
Two Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorists from Pakistan, Mohammad Naveed and Noman, had attacked a BSF convoy at Narsu Nullah. While Noman was killed in retaliatory fire by paramilitary personnel, Naveed was captured alive by people at a nearby village.
With today’s arrests, the number of people apprehended by the NIA in the Udhampur terror attack case climbed to six.
The Lashkar-e-Toiba commander in south Kashmir Abu Qasim, who masterminded the terror attack, was killed in the Valley earlier this month.
