Jaola Basumatary, a self-styled commander of the NDFB(S) wanted in several cases, including an attack on adivasi settlers in Kokrajhar district in December 2014, was killed in an encounter late Friday evening, a press release issued by the Guwahati-based Defence PRO said Saturday.
Wanted by the NIA in three cases, Basumatary was killed after he opened fire on security forces in Chirang district, the statement said.
