By noon, everyone from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to CPM leader Sitaram Yechury had congratulated Lalu and Nitish, the former conceding in a way that his high-powered campaign in the state did not bring in the desired results and the latter seeing the opportunity to revive the concept of a third front.
The results also showed that the Grand Alliance did well across the state with a dominant presence in all regions as well as social strata. In fact, BJP struggled in the urban areas which have been its support base across the country.
Meanwhile, Asaduddin Owaisi’s AIMIM did not create an impact in the state despite its much-hyped campaign. In fact, the BSP was leading in a seat, while AIMIM had no leads. The other interesting story is that of the Congress, which is leading in 23 seats across the state.
