Mumbai police take custody of Chhota Rajan aide from Jalna

An officer said that while checking old records, they found that Dinesh Shetty was an absconding accused.

The Anti-Extortion Cell (AEC) of the Mumbai Police on Monday arrested Dinesh Shetty, a former Chhota Rajan aide. The Crime Branch, at present, is carrying out a drive where absconding accused are being tracked down.

An officer said that while checking old records, they found that Shetty was an absconding accused.

During investigation, however, the police found that Shetty was behind bars in a prison in Jalna, where he was serving a sentence in a robbery case.

“We have taken his custody in a case registered against him in Mumbai,” said a crime branch officer.
The police said that Shetty is an old-time Rajan associate and was one of the accused involved in the killing of Dawood man Salim Kurla in 1997. Besides, several cases of robbery are registered against him.
