“Gujarat has given great leaders to this great country. The first was Mahatma Gandhi, the second was Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and the third most important leader was Morarji Desai. Narendrabhai Modi is the fourth greatest leader from Gujarat,” said Naidu, addressing a gathering of beneficiaries of 1,583 affordable houses constructed by the RMC. He dedicated to public 810 houses for EWS and 728 for LIG categories.
“Modi means three ‘Ds’— decisive, dynamic, development. Three-in-one Narendra Modi. Modi is not only our leader. Now, the entire world is looking up to him… In Parliament, he had said gram, garib, kisan, majdoor, mahila, and yuva are my priorities. Keeping that in mind, all programmes designed, planned, envisaged by the government are aimed at helping the ordinary people, the poor, the depressed, the suppressed and the oppressed. Our commitment is antyodaya— uplifting the poorest of the poor and reaching the last man in the queue,” said Naidu.
He gave credit to the PM for the ambitious Smart Cities Mission. “The PM decided to beautify cities further. Smart Cities. In Gujarat, we have included Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, Dahod for Smart Cities competition. They will follow Rajkot, Surat and the others. That is his objective,” Naidu said.
The minister also lashed out at Congress. “I propose, you oppose and let the House dispose… that is democractic principle. But unfortunately, our friends in the Opposition, some of them do not want House to function. Their worry is if Narendra Modi succeeds, they have no future. If Narendra Modi succeeds, he may become permanent, that is their fear. They can’t tolerate that a tea-seller has become the prime minister of the country. Therefore, they are running a campaign to vilify him. Have some patience. We have sat in Opposition for 50 years. And now you are complaining that we didn’t do this and that in two years. But you are behaving like a fish out of water. This is the situation of Congress,” Naidu said.
“We have allocated budget worth Rs 1,204 crore to Gujarat under AMRUT for drinking water supply. I am aware this is not sufficient. But I know, Gujarat has wherewithal to contribute its share and add to the fund provided by Centre and take projects forward,” said Naidu.
Speaking on the occasion, MoS for Finance Jayant Sinha said that under the leadership of Narendra Modi as CM, Gujarat has developed a development model which other states in the country should also follow.
