Remains of an animal were found inside a tehsil compound in Meerut on Friday, soon after the tehsil office opened for the day.
The tehsildar, who is in charge of the compound, was alerted after employees discovered blood on the floor and walls of a bathroom and the remains of a “large animal”.
District Magistrate Pankaj Yadav said he would take up the issue in a day or two as he was busy with panchayat elections.
“There was a foul smell and blood everywhere. It appeared to be cow meat. The tehsildar asked us to bury it,” said Gullad Das, the patwari (accountant).
When contacted, Delhi Gate station in-charge Dhirendra Singh Yadav said, “We will enquire about the incident with the tehsil employees. The bathroom is usually unlocked and it could be that some anti-social elements did it to create trouble.”
Tehsildar Ramesh Chand Yadav, “There were remains of an animal. The bathroom has been cleaned.”
