Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Haribhau Bagade directed the government on Thursday to probe an accusation that the personal assistant of a BJP legislator had misbehaved with two women government officers.

Raising a point of information in the House, Congress MLA Nitesh Rane alleged that the police machinery had been lax in taking action on the complaint filed by the women employees. The incident occurred during a train journey last Saturday.

Speaking to journalists, Rane alleged that the accused is the personal assistant of BJP MLA from Bhokardan, Santosh Danve, who is also the son of state BJP chief Raosaheb Danve. “The accused should have been behind bars by now. Authorities must conduct a free and fair inquiry and not buckle under political pressure,” he said.
