Maharashtra CM relief fund to provide medical assistance upto Rs 3 lakh

The government has incorporated a few more categories under which patients can claim benefit.

Maharashtra Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday increased the amount of financial help extended to the needy from the present Rs one lakh to Rs three lakh.

Maharashtra has a separate Chief Minister Relief Fund from which patients who cannot afford medical treatment are provided partial financial assistance. The decision on the amount to be granted to a patient is taken after submission of medical proofs specifying the ailment and expenses incurred.

The government has incorporated a few more categories under which patients can claim benefit.

Now, liver transplant, bone marrow and heart transplant are among those included for compensation under the relief fund. The maximum help will be upto Rs 3 lakh. Those undergoing artificial organ transplantation can also avail financial assistance of 50 per cent of the total expenditure and the maximum amount is Rs one lakh.

Almost 50 per cent of the total expenses incurred for treatment of a new born baby is among the new additions.
