One more victim from the Kollam temple fireworks tragedy died on Thursday taking the death toll to 114. The condition of six other victims, who were admitted to the medical college hospital, continued to be very critical.
The deceased, 40-year-old Sathyan, had sustained 50 per cent burn injuries. Besides, his ribs and vertebral column had multiple fractures. He had been put on life support system since the mishap on Sunday, hospital sources said.
The government would hold an all-party meeting on Thursday afternoon to discuss about bringing in restrictions for fireworks display in places of worship.
Over a 100 people were killed and hundred others injured after a fire at the Puttingal temple in Kollam, Kerala. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy’s government was quick in its efforts to conduct rescue operations.
The ghastly mishap occurred when sparks from a firework fell on a storehouse stocked with crackers, triggering powerful explosions. The fire, which led to an explosion, took place at around 3.30 am and the death toll quickly rose from 20 to over a 100.
