AN ASSISTANT professor at a college under Cochin Temple Board has come under fire from the college management and Sangh Parivar over her comments on Facebook justifying the beef festival conducted on the college campus.

Assistant Professor Deepa Nisanth of Sree Kerala Varma College, Thrissur, made the comments Monday when the college suspended six students on charges of conducting beef festival on the campus last Thursday in protest against the Dadri lynching. The college management on Tuesday sought explanation from Nisanth. The suspended students were activists of SFI.

Nisanth commented: “I strongly object to the opinion that college is considered as a temple… I have heard that teachers who supported the beef festival should be sacked. I want to see my name figure first in that list.” College principal C A Latha said the teacher should have avoided making the comments.
