Following security lapses that occurred Monday night when actors Katrina Kaif and Sidharth Malhotra promoted their movie Baar Baar Dekho at Indira Gandhi International Airport’s terminal area, senior CISF officials Wednesday decided to send a letter to Ministry of Civil Aviation about the event which was organised at the duty free area without informing them.
Senior officials of CISF told The Indian Express that no one from the organising company had informed them about the event and the actors were stopped by the security personnel. “They were stopped when they were leaving the area and they were asked to call the officials of the airline they were supposed to board. Later, they called and left the airport premises,” said a CISF official who did not want to be named.
A passenger cannot exit unless the airline offloads them. The actors were allowed to leave after the procedure was completed, the official added. “The ministry would be told that such events held without intimation are a serious security issue,” said the official.
On Monday evening, the actors had arrived at the airport for a flight to Mumbai.
“Actors Katrina Kaif and Sidharth Malhotra received their tickets and boarding passes from the counters of Air India as they were supposed to travel on AI-317, but at the last moment, they came to the counter where they stated that they were self-offloading themselves,” said senior manager (Air India), Dhananjay Kumar.
