Kashmir violence: One more succumbs to injuries, death toll reaches 35

The valley is on a boil after the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani at South Kashmir’s Kokernag village on Friday

One more civilian in Kashmir valley succumbed to injuries at the SKIMS hospital taking the death toll to 35. The injured civilian died earlier in the morning on Wednesday.

The civilian has been identified as Javid Ahmad of Anantnag. As per officians, he had received injuries two days ago and was being treated at SKIMS hospital.

Medical Superintendent, SKIMS Dr Farooq Jan told The Indian Express that injured civilian succumbed as he had grievous injuries. “He had bullet injuries and was very critical since two days,’’ he said.

The valley is on a boil after the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani at South Kashmir’s Kokernag village on Friday evening and witnessed unprecedented protests in which 34 civilians were killed in clashes.

More than 1000 people also sustained injuries in the protests. Meanwhile, curfew and restrictions continue in Valley for the fifth consecutive day. At various places in the Valley, protestors clashed with the police and pelted stones on the security forces. On Tuesday, J&K chief minister Mehbooba Mufti had called for peace and this is second time when she appealed for peace in the Valley.
