One person was shot dead and four others were injured when army and police conducted a raid on North Kashmir’s Ladoora village and opened fire on the protestors. With the killing, the death toll in the Valley has now reached 71.
Locals this morning said that Army personnel and the Special Operation Group of Police raided Ladoora village in North Kashmir’s Rafiabad area after a protest. They said that police and army entered the village, some youths protested and clashed with the personnel. The Army and SOG opened fire in which an 18-year-old youth, identified as Danish Manzoor of Nadihal village, was killed.
Officials at the District Hospital Baramulla told The Indian Express that five people with fire arm injuries were brought to the hospital. “One person was brought dead, while four were injured. Two of the injured were shifted to Srinagar,’’ he said.
The fresh killing comes at a time when curfew was lifted from the entire Valley. To diffuse the tension in Kashmir, an all-party delegation, led by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, will be visiting Kashmir on Sunday.
