Karnataka minister K Abhaychandra Jain allegedly received a threat call in connection with the murder of Bajrang Dal activist Prashant Poojary.
The caller identified himself as gangster Ravi Pujari, Jain told the police, and threatened him for allegedly supporting people accused of killing Poojary.
Poojary was killed in Moodabidri on October 9, allegedly because he was involved in shutting down illegal slaughter houses. Jain, the minister for youth empowerment, sports and fisheries in the Congress government, represents Moodabidri in the Assembly. He received the call on his mobile phone on Saturday, the police said. Local BJP leaders had attacked the MLA for not paying a condolence visit to Poojary’s home after his murder.
Nine people have so far been arrested in connection with the killing. Over the past few days, old pictures of Jain have been circulated on social media, where he and one of the accused are seen participating in a blood donation camp organised by the Muslim youth outfit. ENS
