The KANPUR district administration has recommended action against the Emergency Medical Officer (EMO) and Public Relation officer (PRO) of Lala Lajpat Rai Medical College over allegations that the father of a 12-year-old boy had to run from one department to another carrying his son, on August 26. The boy died following the alleged delay in treatment.

The district administration has also recommended dismissal of a ward boy and a security guard, and sought an explanation from another ward boy who was absent from duty.

Earlier, Kanpur District Magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma had formed a two-member committee to enquire about the incident after a video of the man, Sunil Singh, carrying his son, Ansh was circulated on social media.

The committee submitted its report Thursday after which the DM recommended the action. The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) too had sought a report about the incident from the DM.

“I have sent the report to the PMO and also to Principal Secretary, Medical Education,” the DM said.

The committee in its report recommended departmental action against EMO Dr Mayank Singh and PRO Pallavi Shukla, who were on duty when Sunil Singh had brought his son for treatment.
