A letter threatening JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar and Umar Khalid was recovered along with a gun from a DTC bus going towards the university Thursday. Delhi Police have asked the JNU administration to enhance security arrangements of both Kumar and Khalid inside the campus. Police have urged university authorities to inform them about Kumar and Khalid’s trips outside campus.
A bag carrying a note written in Hindi and a country-made pistol was recovered inside a DTC bus, which travels between ISBT and JNU. The two-line note, which contained threats to both Kumar and Khalid, was allegedly signed by someone who had earlier threatened Kumar on Facebook, said police.
A case under sections of Arms Act has been registered at Tilak Marg police station.
JNU students Kumar, Khalid and Anirban Bhattacharya were arrested in February in a sedition case over an event on campus, during which “anti-national” slogans were allegedly raised.
