BJP MLA O P Sharma on Monday assaulted a CPI leader outside Patiala House court in New Delhi.
A day after Om Prakash Sharma assaulted a CPI leader outside Patiala House Court complex in New Delhi, the BJP MLA from Vishwas Nagar on Tuesday defended his act. He said, “When I was getting out of the court, the person whose name I didn’t know was raising ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogan. When I told him not to do so and despite explaining when he didn’t listen, in that moment a fight broke out in which I was hurt,” said Sharma.

On Monday, Sharma had joined a section of lawyers who assaulted journalists and students of JNU outside the Patiala House Courts complex. Sharma had said,“Mein goli bhi maar deta agar bandook hoti. Koi hamari Ma ko gaali dega to kya usey maaroge nahin (I would have opened fire if I had a gun. If someone abuses our mother, won’t I beat him up).”
The assault took place when the JNUSU President Kanhaiya Kumar was to be presented before the court.

Kumar has been charged with sedition for allegedly overseeing a rally in support of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru inside the JNU Campus.
