Jat agitation: BJP asks Haryana unit to organise peace marches

According to the plan, the Amit Shah-appointed central team led by Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu will study the possibility of providing reservation for Jats at the national level.

FEARING POLITICAL backlash over the spread of Jat agitation, the BJP has launched a massive damage control exercise with the party leadership asking its state unit in Haryana to organise peace marches from mohallas (neighbourhoods) to the state capitals and reach out to all parties for cooperation in resolving the crisis.

According to the plan, while the Amit Shah-appointed central team led by Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu will study the possibility of providing reservation for Jats at the national level, another panel at the state level, with representatives from all parties, will discuss provisions in the Bill that would be prepared to provide quota for the community.

Jat Agitation: What Are The Political Implications & Challenges For The Central & State Govt

Party leaders have expressed fear that the Jat agitation could spread to other states. Besides Haryana, the Jats have a presence in Punjab, J&K, HP, Rajasthan, UP, Uttarakhand and Delhi.
