Amidst all the hype and the buzz surrounding the mega yoga event held in tri-city, Mohali witnessed a lackluster response to the event. Despite proper publicity, many did not turn up at the parks to perform yoga.
The official celebration, organised by the district administration, was held at the Shivalik Public School grounds. According to SDM lakhmir Singh more than 900 students took part in the event. Yoga instructors were also roped in to guide them while performing asanas. In other venues, however, there was hardly any such activity.
The rain which lashed the region Monday also created hurdles in the run-up to the event as organisers struggled to prepare the ground ready for the event.
A former IAS officer Jasbir Singh said, “I am suffering from bipolar disorder but thanks to yoga its effects has minimised.”
Echoing similar views, Sandeep Kumar Sachhar, a resident of Phase 3B1 said, “I’m suffering from depression and had several anxiety attacks. Doctors advised me to perform yoga.”
