SELFIE ENTHUSIASTS will get ample opportunity to click selfies at the International Yoga Day event on June 21 as the Chandigarh administration has decided to set up a selfie zone at the Capitol Complex. Around 30,000 participants, including students, will take part in the main Yoga Day event that will be led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Chandigarh deputy commissioner Ajit Balaji Joshi said a large number of youngsters are expected to take part in the event.
Joshi said a selfie zone will be setup at the entrance. “Their photographs will be displayed on LED screens,” said Joshi. A total of 40 LED screens will be put up at the venue. Live feeds will be telecast on national television.
To make the participants feel special, a total of 100 ushers will be hired who will escort participants to the enclosure. As many as 100 security guards will be deployed for managing guests.
Joshi informed that different online competitions such as selfie competition, competition of yoga postures and yoga anthem will be organised and cash prizes would be given to the winners. Social media will be used for interaction with the public and promotion of the event with the help of yoga slogans, photos and videos. In addition to that video clips of Yoga will be showcased in city cinemas.
Participants will get to take home the mat on which they will do their asanas. They will also be given T-shirts, yoga pants, Aung vastra and bags containing printed material, brochure and literature.
The event will be organised by the Chandigarh administration in collaboration with state governments of Punjab and Haryana. The Ministry of Ayush will fund the event on which around Rs 8 crore is expected to be spent.

300 register for yoga camps
A day after the launch of online registration, as many as 300 people have registered for the yoga camps which will be held from May 21-June 20. The camps will be held at 200 venues across the city.
