According to the police, the five arrested are drug peddlers, and include two youngsters from Kerala — Jithin P C and Nizamuddin from Malappuram district. The other three are Shafiq Ahmed and Abdul Manan, both residents of Tangdhar in Kupwara district, and Surjeet Singh, at present a resident of Amritsar, the police said.
IGP (Jammu zone) Danish Rana said the seized narcotics were smuggled into Tangdhar on the Indian side from across the LoC. It was then brought to Jammu in a Santro car, and was to be delivered to Jithin and Nizamuddin, who were supposed to take it to Kerala.
