A day before the Supreme Court hearing in the disproportionate assets (DA) case against Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, the Himachal Pradesh Cabinet Sunday rallied behind him and blamed the BJP for “unleashing politics of vendetta”.
This is the second time in a month when the ministers, including Kaul Singh Thakur,a contender for the CM chair, and G S Bali, another high-profile minister, have expressed faith in Singh.
The cabinet ministers issued a statement minutes after Singh reached Shimla from Delhi, where he held consultations with some of the country’s top lawyers who will represent him.
Insiders say the CM was to call a meeting of the MLAs to adopt a resolution, but dropped the plan fearing some rebel MLAs may not sign it.
In the statement, the ministers said “the politics of vendetta and vengeance unleashed by the BJP against him (Virbhadra) won’t succeed.
The Congress government is strong and stable and will complete its term”. The resolution also said the BJP was trying to diver attention from the misdeeds of its leaders.
