Legendary actress and now MP Hema Malini has slammed filmmakers for returning their national awards by way of protest.
Calling it a cheap stunt, the actress told The Indian Express.com, ” It is deplorable. Rejecting a honour that has been bestowed upon you by the nation is not right. It’s not acceptable.”
Hema who is herself a recipient of many awards including Padma Shri said that the ones returning it are doing purely out of political reasons.
“These are awards that you crave to get in the first place. It’s a great honour showered by our nation. What exactly are these people returning it for? Do they even know the consequences. It is absolutely politically motivated,” said Hema.
