The High Court at Hyderabad has ordered the Andhra Pradesh government to file a counter to a habeas corpus petition filed by A Sirisha alias Padma, wife of Maoist leader Ramakrishna alias RK, asking police to produce her husband in court.
In her petition, Sirisha has alleged that the state police took her husband into custody during the alleged encounter in Malkangiri last week and kept him in an undisclosed location. She said that RK may be eliminated by the police.
“Police killed 30 Maoists including my son, and now they are keeping my husband in custody illegally. If anything happens to him, the AP government and police will be responsible,’’ she stated in the petition.
The court has asked the government to file a counter with all the details by Thursday.
