A couple suffered burn injuries in an explosion in a private bus in Fatehabad district Tuesday morning, the second such incident in Haryana in a fortnight.

The bus with around 50 passengers on board was on its way to Fatehabad from Jakhal. The explosion took place at Bhuna-Fatehabad Road.

According to officials, a sulphur-like substance was kept in a small bottle in a bag under a seat in the bus. The bottle exploded owing to heat, they said.

The two injured have been identified as Bhagirath (45) and his wife Rajbala (40). They were admitted to a hospital in Bhuna.

SP, Fatehabad, O P Narwal said as per preliminary probe, the blast was caused due to a sulphur-like chemical. Haryana Transport Minister Krishan Lal Panwar said CCTV cameras would be installed in all state roadways buses, and directions have also been issued to private bus operators.
