For the upcoming students’ union poll, Maharaja Sayajirao University (MSU) of Baroda has appointed a dead professor as “observer”.

The circular, dated August 19, mentioned the name of Professor Rajni Giridhar in a list of those appointed as observers for the MSU students’ union election, which will be held on September 3. Giridhar, who taught at the Faculty of Pharmacy, had died last year.

An election committee official said, “The circular was prepared by the registrar office. It is possible that it was prepared from the 2013 list when election was last held.”

“I have directed the registrar office to correct it and issue a fresh circular,” MSU Vice-Chancellor Parimal Vyas said.
