Dissatisfied with Modi govt on black money issue, says Ramdev

At the same time, the Yoga Guru praised the government's fight against graft.

Yoga guru Baba Ramdev on Sunday expressed his dissatisfaction with the BJP government over the black money issue. While he praised the Narendra Modi-led BJP government at the Centre for its various achievements, Ramdev, however, said the steps to bring back black money stashed in foreign bank accounts were ineffective.

Ramdev was interacting with the mediapersons here, ahead of the concluding yoga festival.

“The situation at present is such that effective steps have not been taken yet to get back the black money. Because of this, citizens of this country and I are disappointed,” said Ramdev. “I have even spoken about it [the black money issue] with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitely and had been repeatedly raising it with BJP national president Amit Shah.”

Praising the government’s fight against graft, however, he said, “Scams worth Rs 10,000 crore were routine news during previous regimes. And now we don’t even hear of such a thing,” Ramdev said.

Taking a dig at Rahul Gandhi’s upcoming march against drugs in Punjab, Baba Ramdev said, “Ask Rahul Gandhi if he had ever taken drugs in his life?” Further, mocking at the possibility of elevating Rahul Gandhi to the post of Congress party president, Ramdev said, “In that case, the Bharatiya Janta Party workers will have to put in less work. If Priyanka is made the party president, then BJP workers will have to perform regular yoga”.

Talking about the controversial Bollywood movie Udta Punjab, Ramdev said that he is not a movie-buff. “Udta Punjab mein kya ud raha hai hume nahi pata (I dont know what is flying in Udta Punjab)” he commented but admitted that the drugs problem in the country was growing and needs to be dealt with.

A day after the win of BJP members in Rajya Sabha elections in Haryana, Baba Ramdev took a dig at the Congress party saying that they “really helped in making BJP win” and they [Congress] should continue this support.

Replying to the queries on his relationship with Lal Prasad Yadav, Ramdev said that “some people really have a problem as Lalu has stopped hurling abuses at Ramdev”.

When asked about Anna Hazare, the yoga guru opined that he never found Anna upset with PM Narendra Modi’s work. “ I have spoken to him and I didn’t find him upset with PM’s work. Infact Anna Hazare is a simple person. Any crafty person could go and get any type of version from Anna Hazare only because he is very simple.”
