Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh Tuesday accused Union Finance minister Arun Jaitely and state BJP leaders Prem Kumar Dhumal, his two sons, Anurag Thakur (BJP MP) and Arun Dhumal, of “political witch-hunt”.

Responding to media reports on CBI having finalised the chargesheet against him in the disproportionate assets case, Virbhadra said, “let me tell you, I am not scared of the CBI. Case against me is totally politically motivated. I am going to fight it till the end, and ultimately truth will prevail. I am going to expose all those behind it.”

Singh said that by filing false cases against him, the BJP leaders have “blackened their own faces”. The chief minister’s angry outburst came in the Vidhan Sabha when the opposition BJP racked-up the issue. Looking undeterred by the charges levelled against him, Singh said, “It’s my personal matter. There are three agencies probing against me on a single charge, which is a tax matter. Now, beside I-T, CBI and ED are also investigating simultaneously. What could it be if not witch hunting. It’s Prem Kumar Dhumal, Arun Dhumal, Anurag Thakur and also Arun Jaitley, who are behind this.”

Prem Kumar Dhumal had filed multiple cases against Singh during his two terms as chief minister. However, he faced trial and was honorably acquitted.

Singh also suggested that the cases against him were filed only after he went after the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association, which is led by BJP leader Anurag Thakur.

“It’s all after I had got cases registered against the HPCA. Huge land was wrongly given to the HPCA at Dharamshala. Thereafter, the HPCA filed application to get more land for developing a luxury hotel. Land allotted was shown as barren land but actually there were 1500 trees there. I did my duty as Chief minister and I will keep doing so,” he said.

Singh added that he has resolved to fight out till the end and nobody can cow him down.

When questioned regarding the BJP’s objective in trying to allegedly frame him, Virbhadra Singh said “because I am tallest congress leader and a serving Chief Minister. They think by doing so they can eliminate me politically. But, they (BJP) is sadly mistaken. They don’t know what stuff I am really made of.”
