A special fast track court on Tuesday convicted Uber cab driver Shiv Kumar Yadav guilty of raping a 25-year-old woman executive in his cab. The FTC had earlier framed charges against Yadav for the alleged offences of endangering a woman’s life while raping her, abduction with an intent to compel her for marriage and criminally intimidating and causing hurt.
Here’s the chronology of events:
December 5, 2014: Woman executive raped by convict Shiv Kumar Yadav on the night.
December 7, 2014: Delhi Police arrest Yadav from Mathura, Uttar Pradesh.
December 24, 2014: Delhi Police file chargesheet against Yadav.
January 13, 2015: Delhi court frames charges of rape and including others against Yadav.
January 31, 2015: In a record seventeen days, the prosecution in the Uber rape case completes recording of evidence.
February 23: Prosecution concludes final argument.
March 4: Delhi High Court allowed Yadav to recall some witnesses.
March 10: The Supreme Court stays Delhi High Court order permitting Yadav to recall some witnesses.
September 10: The Supreme Court set aside Delhi High Court order permitting Yadav to recall some witnesses.
September 21: Final argument resumed in the case.
October 7: Court reserved order.
