Cracks in Congress ahead of Rahul’s Jalandhar visit

Internal bickering among the local Congress leaders have again come to the fore ahead of AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Jalandhar today. The Gandhi scion will be visiting the city to participate in a sit-in dharna organised by the state Congress against drug menace.

However, it has come to light that few leaders have been conducting separate meetings instead of holding a collective meeting pertaining to the preparations.

While Jalandhar district president (urban) Rainder Beri held his own set of meetings, Raj Kumar Gupta hailing from the same constituency, conducted another separate meeting with the workers.

Similary, in Jalandhar West constituency too, former MP Mohinder Singh Kay Pee and Councillor Sushil Rinku from the same constituency conducted separate meetings.

Not only this. The divide was clearly visible in the posters as well displayed to promote the dharna as leaders chose to publish photos as per their groups. Former Chairman of Jalandhar improvement Trust Tejinder Bittu got posters installed highlighting the top leaders instead of local leaders.

Meanwhile, amidst all this, the entire district police administration were busy providing adequate security arrangements. One side of the road infront of the District Administration office has already been blocked where the dharna is scheduled to be held.
