THE MIDC Police in Andheri are on the lookout for two men who allegedly raped a three-year-old girl some distance from her residence on Thursday. The two accused have been captured in a CCTV footage taking the girl along. A young boy from the locality also saw the duo take the girl along with them.

The incident took place between 7 pm and 8 pm on Thursday, when the girl was playing outside her residence in the MIDC area.

According to the account of the boy who was present there, the two men, appearing to be in their early twenties, told the girl they would get her a chocolate and carried her along with them, an officer said.

On the road, the duo have been captured in a CCTV camera taking the girl along.

Around 7.10 pm on Thursday, the footage shows one of them, dressed in three-fourth pants, carrying the girl, while the other wearing white pants and a vest is looking around, apparently to ensure no one spots them.

The accused then took the girl to a nearby bush where they allegedly raped her.

Locals spotted the girl and informed her parents, after which she was rushed to the KEM hospital.

An officer probing the case said that they suspect the duo told the girl they would get her a chocolate and took her along.

“The fact that in the video the girl is seen going with them without protesting also points to the fact that she may have known them and hence went along,” the officer said.

“We are showing the footage of the two accused in the locality in case anyone can identify them. Though the CCTV camera is at a distance, if the accused are locals, the neighbours should be able to identify them with the help of their looks and body language,” the officer added.

Shailesh Pasalwar, Senior Inspector of MIDC police station, where a case of rape and under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been registered, said, “The girl was taken to the KEM hospital soon after the incident came to light.”

He added: “Her condition is fine now. We are on the lookout for the two accused who were seen by a local taking the girl along with them.”
