PUNJAB PARDESH Congress Committee (PPCC) president Captain Amarinder Singh targeted Punjab Cabinet minister Bikram Singh Majithia at the party’s rally in Baba Bakala Thursday.

“I will throw Bikram Singh Majithia behind bars if the Congress forms the government in 2017,” said Amarinder Singh while addressing the gathering. “I don’t know how Majithia sleeps at night. All the border villages are in the grip of drugs,”he said.

Amarinder is often accused by AAP of ‘going soft’ on Majithia. On Thursday , however, Captain, chose to go soft on AAP Punjab convenor Sucha Singh Chhotepur.

“Sucha Singh Chhotepur is my friend from the past. Politics is one thing, but we are good friends. He is the only person in AAP capable of running a government. There is no one else in AAP with experience of running a government.”

Meanwhile, Chhotepur was addressing an AAP rally just opposite the Congress rally venue, on the other side of the road.

Amarinder added, “This is the reason that they (AAP) have been bringing leaders from the UP and Bihar. AAP is selling tickets. If you want a government of Punjabis in Punjab, vote for Congress.”

“It is for personal and vested interests that Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal was compromising Punjab’s interests, whether on the SYL canal row or Chandigarh. Thanks to the deliberate delay by Badal in sending the SYL bill that was unanimously passed in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha with Congress support, to the Governor, Haryana got four crucial days to approach the Supreme Court.”

Addressing the rally, AICC secretary in-charge of Punjab Asha Kumari said the Akali-BJP government had created a “total mess” and it was in the interest of Punjab and its people to throw this government out and bring back the Congress.

Lashing out at the Akalis, former chief minister Ms Rajinder Kaur Bhattal questioned the “silence” of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on crucial issues concerning the state. She cautioned people to make a careful choice in the elections lest Punjab deteriorates into further anarchy.

AICC secretary Harish Chaudhry, Mamta Dutta, Manpreet Badal, OP Soni, Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa, Sukhjinder Randhawa, Sukh Sarkaria, Navtej Cheema, Harpartap Singh Ajnala, Parminder Singh Pinky, Laly Majithia, Gurjeet Aujla, Jasbir Singh Dimpa, who had organised the rally, Ranjit Singh Chhajjalwadi, Sukhpal Bhullar were present.
