Congress delegation meets Pranab Mukherjee, demands sacking of HCU V-C

A Congress delegation Tuesday knocked on the doors of President Pranab Mukherjee, seeking his intervention to restore peaceful environment at Hyderabad Central University (HCU) and ensure a fair investigation.

The delegation urged him to intervene for initiation of proceedings against Union ministers Smriti Irani and Bandaru Dattatreya and for the immediate resignation or sacking of HCU Vice-Chancellor P Appa Rao.

The Congress delegation led by Mallikarjun Kharge and Sushil Kumar Shinde said the V-C must be “suspended pending inquiry into his role in the suicide of Rohith Vemula, as also the recent illegal crackdown on students”.
