Reacting on the results of the Bihar Assembly polls, Apna Dal’s Mirzapur MP Anupriya Patel said that the confusion which prevailed over the issue of reservation system was a major factor in BJP’s loss in the Bihar elections, results of which were announced Sunday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “late reaction” to RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s remark seeking a review of the existing reservation policy did not help the matter either, she added.
“Due to that delay, a confusion prevailed in the minds of backwards castes and Dalits of Bihar for whom reservation matters a lot,” Anupriya said.
The MP said that time has come for the party to “introspect” and find out reasons for loosing the confidence of backward castes and Dalits. She said that the poll result was “the victory of ideology of social justice”, adding that the BJP needs to reiterate its commitment of social justice.
Apna Dal had contested on two Lok Sabha seats in alliance with the BJP last year and had won both.
