Days after taking over investigation into the flogging of seven Dalits in Una, the CID on Wednesday made four arrests, taking the number of people apprehended in the case to 20.
The four — Vinubhai Gohil (30), Bhavesh Godhvaniya (26), Vipul Jadav (19) and Govind Gohil (19) — were picked up in the morning from Samter, around 10 km from Mota Samadhiyala, the village of the victims.
“Primary interrogation is underway to ascertain the extent of their involvement in the case. We shall produce them in court to seek their police custody,” DSP Keshavji Saradava, who is investigating the case, told The Indian Express. According to Saradava, the four could be seen in the video of the Una incident.
Meanwhile, the court of additional chief judicial magistrate of Una rejected a CID application, seeking further remand of the five accused arrested by Gir Somnath police on July 12. The five are currently in judicial custody.
