Child died of epilepsy, not deworming drug: Govt

The report does not support the theory that the death was due to side effects of Albendazole tablet, which was administered as part of the deworming initiative on February 10.

The government has clarified that the death of an eight-year-old girl in Uttarakhand, who was administered the deworming drug last week, did not happen because of the drug but because of epilepsy.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Health Ministry said that it has received a report from the district CMO of Udhampurnagar.

The report does not support the theory that the death was due to side effects of Albendazole tablet, which was administered as part of the deworming initiative on February 10.
