KERALA CONGRESS (M), a prominent ally of the Congress-led UDF, Monday criticised former chief minister Oommen Chandy and current Opposition leader in the Assembly Ramesh Chennithala’s participation in a function held as part of bar baron Biju Ramesh’s daughter’s pre-wedding engagement.

Ramesh had raised the bar bribery scandal that had haunted the previous UDF government for two years. “Biju Ramesh had unleashed a false campaign against the previous government and tried to torpedo it. They (Chandy and Chennithala) should not have tried to justify their presence at the function by calling it a personal matter. Ramesh had conspired to scuttle the government,’’ Kerala Congress (M) leader Joseph Puthussery said.

Both Chandy and Chennithala have refused to comment on the issue.
