Shahi Imam of Delhi’s Jama Masjid, Syed Ahmed Bukhari, Saturday issued a three-month ultimatum to Akhilesh Yadav government in Uttar Pradesh to fulfill the promises it had made to Muslims ahead of previous Assembly elections. He said a failure to do so will force the minority community to reconsider its support to the Samajwadi Party when the state goes to polls next year.
Bukhari had issued an appeal in favour of Samajwadi Party among Muslims ahead of 2012 UP polls. “We are very sad over Samajwadi Party’s attitude and inaction. Not a single poll promise has been fulfilled. It has failed to provide security to Muslims. In last four years, communal incidents have increased,” he said.
“It has been resolved that Akhilesh Yadav be given three months for fulfilling the poll promises,” he added.
