BSP president Mayawati said on Friday that the BSP will launch a nationwide agitation if the Narendra Modi government acted on RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s suggestion of reviewing reservation in the country.

Addressing party workers after paying tributes to BSP founder Kanshi Ram on his death anniversary here, Mayawati said the BJP and RSS want to abolish reservation by taking up its review. She even challenged them to do so. Bhagwat last month said that the reservation policy should be reviewed as it has been used politically. The BJP had, however, clarified that the reservation will stay the way it is.

Mayawati said the prime minister’s statement on Dadri incident was only a political statement with no feeling attached to it. She said the people in UP are suffering as the SP and BJP are unleashing jungle raj and communalism on them.

She said the RSS is trying to convert India into a Hindu nation in which minorities will be unsafe and Dalits will be reduced to their earlier position of being shudras.

On cancellation of a concert by Pakistani ghazal singer Ghulam Ali in Mumbai after Shiv Sena issued a threat, Mayawati said she will invite him and other artists from everywhere for concerts in UP to promote secularism after coming to power in the state.

Mayawati said Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi’s AIMIM is being used by the BJP in UP to divide Muslim votes. She said the BJP is bringing Owaisi to UP to divide Muslim votes here as Peace Party, another little-known party party focussed on Muslims, was not enough for that purpose.
