On a cold rainy night in Moscow, Prime Minister Narendra Modi exited from Air India One to a warm reception from the Russians. As the prime minister began to walk on the red carpet, the waiting band suddenly began to play the Indian national anthem. A Russian official had to gently pull back Modi as it was a breach of protocol for a head of state to not remain in attention during the national anthem.

Usually, the official in-charge signals for the prime minister to continue walking after the national anthem. In this case, the video shows that one of the official prompted the PM to start walking and the anthem started playing at the same time.
PM Modi is on a two-day visit to Russia and is expected to sign major trade and defence agreements with President Vladimir Putin.
