BJP Monday slammed Akhilesh Yadav for the reinduction of tainted minister Gayatri Prasad Prajapati in his Cabinet, saying it proved the nexus the UP chief minister has with the corrupt and demanded his immediate resignation.

“There is a strong alliance between the Akhilesh Yadav government and corruption which has been proved today with reinduction of Prajapati in his Cabinet. It is clear that samajwad has been converted into corruption and Yadav is the chief of tainted and corrupt ministers.

“For four-and-a-half years the Samajwadi Party and the family has harassed people of Uttar Pradesh and there is a nexus between the Akhilesh government and the corrupt, criminals and the mafia … If Akhilesh Yadav has some morality left, he should immediately resign from the post of the chief minister,” BJP national secretary Shrikant Sharma said.

He said Yadav’s priority is not the state’s welfare, but the welfare of his own family. “The fight within Samajwadi family is the result of the loot and this reinduction of Prajapti confirms that the family has united fearing that he may have spill the beans,” Sharma said.

Taking on the Chief Minister, he cited the Jawahar Bagh incident in Mathura and claimed that Yadav “knew” of the goings on in the camp run by its mastermind Ramvriksh Yadav and “deliberately remained silent and ignored the land grabbing and amassing of illegal weapons”.

“The way two officials, including the Mathura SP, had to make the supreme sacrifice in Jawahar bagh incident, it is clear that Akhilesh Yadav was giving protection to land mafia. Similarly, Yadav is also giving protection to the mines mafia and the UP government opposed the handing of the mines probe to CBI despite a stern warning from the high court,” he said.

Sharma said Yadav played a “drama” by sacking Prajapati from his Cabinet, but reinducted him soon thereafter. “It is clear that there is a nexus between his government and corruption and the mafia. Corruption has now entered the soul of samajwad and they are now defaming samajwad. Their sole purpose is to loot the state and benefit the family,” he said.

“The people of the state are asking as to what is the reason for the reinduction of a tainted minister in the Cabinet. After all, what is your nexus with the mines mafia that the same minister has to be inducted into the Cabinet four times in as many years.

“Prajapati is only a tool, the Akhilesh government is behind him and Yadav is responsible for it. Without the government’s protection, there cannot be such a big mines scam. Akhilesh government is looting the state. He has failed on all fronts and has dejected the people of the state, who hoped he would act against the corrupt, criminals and the mafia,” he said.

Sharma also hit out at BSP supremo Mayawati, saying people of the state have not forgotten her regime which witnessed many scams and “loot”. He also recalled the NRHM scam during the Mayawati government when a chief medical officer was found dead inside the jail under mysterious circumstances.
