Making clear its stand towards Sangh Parivar, the upper caste Hindu Nair outfit Nair Service Society (NSS) on Friday asked the BJP not to intimidate the community organisation.
Addressing the birthday celebrations of NSS founder Mannath Padmanabhan, its general secretary Sukumaran Nair said BJP should not think that it can make gains by strong-arm tactics. NSS is not going to be associated with any political party. BJP should not interfere in the internal affairs of the NSS, he said.
Nair said BJP should reign in those who are working against NSS. “Our organisation is not against all BJP leaders. We would reciprocate if the leaders approach us in a courteous manner. Bullying tactics would not work,” he said.

Nair went on to laud the Congress government in Kerala. He said the Chandy government had taken several steps to ensure social justice.
The Nair community leader’s reaction came close on the heels of BJP nominating Kummanam Rajasekharan, a Nair community member, as the state president of the party. BJP has been trying to win over the Nair community after it had entered into a political alliance with backward caste Ezhava community.
Earlier, NSS had made clear its dislike towards BJP in several occasions.
