Udit Raj, the BJP’s Dalit face and the Northwest Delhi MP, on Sunday asked members of the Scheduled Caste and backward communities of take to the social media to fight the battle for reservation for SC/ST candidates in private sector jobs.
He also asked the backward communities to stop abusing the system and critising it, and learn from the recent pro-quota agitations by the Patidars in Gujarat and the Jats in Haryana.
Urging people from SC/ST communities to put smartphones to maximum use and associate with people, the ex-bureaucrat said PM Narendra Modi had once said that he was initially laughed at in the party for using laptop and mobile phone.

Udit Raj also blamed them for their present status in society, and said had it not for the British the backward and SC/ST communities would not have got reservation. “No one present here has fought for reservation, and yet got the benefits. (But) we still curse the system and do nothing to help the community,” he said. “Had there been no British rule, we would not have got (benefits of) reservation. Asking members of the All India Confederation of SC/ST Organisations to strengthen its reach among people of backward communities, Udit Raj said Kejriwal commands votes of their community. “Dalit vote Arvind Kejriwal ka hai, aapko koi galatfahmi nahi honi chahiye. Yeh vote hamare kehne se nahi gaya. Ab aapko in vote ka rukh tay karna hai. (Dalit vote is Arvind Kejriwal’s, and one should have no doubts about it. This vote has not gone to AAP because of us. Now you have to decide where these votes go).”
