BJP MP from East Delhi Maheish Girri challenged Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to an open debate on Sunday after the chief minister accused him of involvement in the murder of NDMC employee MM Khan.

Kejriwal, in a letter to Lieutenant Governor on June 15, had stated that Girri and former BJP legislator Kanwar Singh’s name was coming up in MM Khan’s murder probe but Jung made sure that both of them were safe. “You did not even let the police question both of them,” read the letter written by Kejriwal.

Responding to this, Girri wrote a letter to Arvind Kejriwal on the same day and accused him of bringing down the level of public discourse.

He further wrote “now that you have linked my name to unfortunate death of NDMC employee MM Khan, I am sure you also have the proof with you. Therefore, I challenge you for a public debate at Constitution Club in Delhi on June 19 at 4:00 pm. Either you prove the charger or resign from your position,” Girri wrote in his letter.

Girri also took to Twitter on Saturday and alleged that some Kejriwal supporters were planning to create ruckus during the event and appealed the BJP volunteers to not be provoked by that.

Meanwhile, several hashtags like #WillKejriwalCome #ComeBhagodaCome among others started trending on Twitter.

Will Kejriwal accept the challenge and arrive at Constitution Club?
